Our Mission

The Inflammation Society is a not for profit organisation, founded in London (UK) in 2015. Inflammation is a common basis of the vast majority of any kind of chronic diseases. The Society will support further research in inflammation and the development of a better knowledge in understanding its causes and discovering solutions, raising public awareness about the condition and training professionals and practitioners from various fields on the state of the art of control and prevention techniques.

Controlling Inflammation

Inflammation is a specific condition affecting a very large number of human beings, and anti-inflammatory drugs are the best-selling drugs all over the world. The Inflammation Society researches new ways to understand and manage this condition, across a wide range of human activities and sectors, studying new medical protocols, new drugs and active plant-derived components, and promoting better nutritional habits and life choices, leading to a better quality of life and more efficient healthcare.

Inform and protect

We aim to inform healthcare practitioners and professionals - but also the general public - about the impact of inflammation on everyday life, and the means to protect people from its unwanted consequences, because both inflammation and low-grade inflammation interfere with metabolism, immune system, hormonal balance and mental functions. We do this through the promotion and production of high-quality research, and a variety of information, education and training contents, activities and events.

GOVERNANCE
The Inflammation Society is a not for profit organisation incorporated in London. Its governing body is the Board of Directors, which is elected by the Fellowship Council - the assembly of all Fellows. The Directors act as trustees of the charity and guarantee its compliance to its charitable aims. Fellows and Associates all convene in the General Assembly, which elects the other internal governing bodies of the Society, in particular the Scientific Committee and the Executive Committee. Other committees, both ad hoc and permanent, can be instituted by the Fellowship Council.

ETHICAL CODE The Inflammation Society is governed according to its Ethical Code, built on basic principles of Integrity, Honesty, Transparency and Fairness. These guidelines are a guarantee of our impartiality and professionalism in all actions within and without the Society.
